20 week appointment

Today we had our 20 week appointment. We had our anatomy scan at 1030 then our appointment with Dr. Gates. I did not want to find out the gender but on the way to the appointment Ryan said he really wanted to know. Raegan chimmed in too and said she wanted to know she was having a baby brother. So, I gave in and let Ryan and Raegan find out.

Raegan has said from day 1 that she is having a brother. While we were building the house she kept saying the baby's room was baby brothers room. I tried to keep reminding her that she might be having a sister but no, she was dead set on a brother.

From very early on I said it was a boy. I think when I was 5 weeks I went to Gymboree and bought a little football onesie. It has been hanging on display in Ryan's closet. I was having boy dreams, and the pregnancy was very different. I have been so much more sick, more headaches, not as much energy, still not working out, no appetite, car sick, constipated at the beginning, and the list goes on. Then about a week ago I had a dream it was a girl and we were trying to decide on a name and were talking about Harper. Then it seemed like everyone I knew that was due in the Spring were all having girls. We didn't have a girl name picked out. A list but nothing we were in love with. Harper, McKenzie, Quinn, Taylor. Middle names Lillian, Louise or Grace. Last night, the night before our appointment, I had another girl dream and I even saw her and she looked just like me. So going into today I was leaning more towards girl. And I guess part of me didn't want to find out yet because I didn't want Ryan to be disappointed if it was another girl. Even though he said he would love having another little daddy's girl, I knew how much he wanted his son, his little football player, his buddy to fish and build things with.

Having a girl would also mean she would get all of Raegan's hand-me-downs since they both would be warm weather babies. We have a pink carseat, pink swing, pink bumbo, pink stroller, so many baby dolls and girl toys. That would all be too easy and too nice on our bank account. I did buy a bouncy seat from Woot that was more gender neutral with blue and brown polka dots and a Rock and Play from Amazon that was yellow. Just in case in was a boy and at that time we weren't going to find out the gender.

When we got to our appointment Raegan was excited for the fish tank. I saw my friend Amy there who has 2 year old twin girls and just found out she is having another girl, due a week or two after me. We went back for our ultrasound and the tech took her time taking all the measurements. Fluid levels, spine, brain, liver, kidney, heart, placenta, cord, ect. By date I should be 20 weeks 1 day. But baby was measuring in at 12 oz which is 20 weeks 3 days. That would make the due date May 14 instead of 16. I said from the beginning that I knew when I ovulated and according to that my due date was May 14 but the doctor went with the May 16 day. So Ryan and I have been telling everyone May 15. Ryan and Raegan were able to see the screen but I couldn't. He was just smiling and grinning the whole time. I was glad he got to see the baby more than me since I can feel him move and kick everyday. The tech finally turned the screen so I could see it. It was so cool to be able to feel the baby punch and then see it on the screen. Raegan was asleep during her ultrasound the entire time, with her legs crossed. We weren't able to tell gender on the first try with her. The tech confirmed what I have been saying this entire time, that the baby was sitting on my bladder. The baby had his hand up by his face, you could see him open and close his mouth and then punch me and rub his eyes. It was unbelievable. I don't remember Raegan's scan being as clear as it was today. Granted it was 3 years ago and they could have a new machine now but it was great.

The tech then said lets listen to HIS heartbeat. That caught my attention because she had not revealed the gender to us yet. The heart rate was 143. That was much lower than it was in previous appointments and Raegan's was never that low. She was always above 160. I immediately new it was a boy. Susan the tech then asked us if we wanted to know the gender at which point I hesitated and Ryan said, "YES!" She scanned between the legs and it was VERY, VERY obvious that it was a BOY! No denying it. No questioning it. With Raegan we saw the 3 lines but the tech said she was 90% sure but dont go painting anything pink. I went and got another elective ultrasound that confirmed it was a girl. This time I don't need it. You could see where the cord was and it was not between his legs! I looked at Ryan and you could tell he was over the moon. Raegan pretty much said "told ya!"

We then saw Dr. Gates and mainly talked ND football, as Raegan was wearing her ND shirt for tonights game. We did talk baby a little bit and then I had to get blood work done and off to Pita Pit we went for lunch.

We are currently discussing names and have a short list. We are pretty set on one as of now but I am not sure if we will reveal it. Although Raegan knows it and says it all the time. But she doesn't pronounce it very clear so others probably wont be able to figure out what it is.

I went to Target today and bought "Baby Bear" as we have been calling him for weeks now (Raegan was obsessed with the book Baby Bear, Baby Bear for the past 4-5 months and reads it every night before bed) a couple little outfits. Of course they all had footballs and soccer balls on them. We have the new car seat picked out and need to order it- the website says there are only 4 left in stock, baby bedding picked out, and the new crib. Raegan doesn't use her crib anymore, she is in a twin bed but we took her crib and converted it into the headboard for the guest bedroom. Ryan doesn't want to worry about putting it back together correctly so we are just going to buy new. I also have the bedding I want in my online shopping cart at Target. It is Bananafish Nantucket print. It looks so preppy and cute! It's navy blue, green and white and has little Alligators on it. Raegan's bedding was also Bananafish and I loved it. Very happy with the quality of it.

We are thrilled to be having a boy, the Hahaj name carries on. I am excited Raegan will continue to be my only little girl, my only princess and as of now we only have one wedding to pay for in 20+ years! I am however torn about the thought that I just turned 27 and this will probably be my last pregnancy. Now that we have one of each Ryan wants to be done. And knowing how sick I have been with both kids I don't have any desire to go through it again. Just remind me of that in two years when I get baby fever! I am also nervous about raising a little boy. Everything I know is girl. Raegan is easy. This baby is already so much more active than Raegan ever was. He might be a wild one. But we are ready for May! Let's hope the next 4.5 months fly by as fast as the first half has!

20 weeks! It's a BOY!

(That picture makes me look bigger than I really am. It's a little bit of a food baby. We just got done eating buffalo chicken dip! yum)

Christmas!

We spent Christmas in Evansville again this year. Friday night the 23, we went to Bloomington to have a family christmas. While at my sisters house Raegan's eyes started getting red and her nose was runny. We started to think she is like her father and allergic to cats. Christmas Eve we drove to Evansville, had lunch with my grandma, Raegan made cookies for Santa, and we went to church. We stopped and got Raegan some childrens Benadryl for her allergies. Her eyes were really red, goopy and starting to swell. Her nose was running like a faucet but she was acting fine and like nothing was bothering her. When we got home from church she left carrots out for the reindeer and cookies and milk for Santa. Our Elf on the Shelf, Chippey, even made the trip so she said goodnight to him and that she would see him next year, as he was riding with Santa back to the North Pole.

Christmas morning Raegan woke up so excited for presents. She got lots of toys and clothes. Her favorite is probably a choo choo train that my grandma got her, her new "baby Grace" baby dolls, and her Melissa and Doug puzzles and shape game.

After playing with her toys it was lunchtime and meltdown central. It was 2pm this time and she was ready for a nap. So I went and rocked her to sleep and she didn't eat the yummy Christmas dinner my Grandma made. I woke her up 2 hours later so we could go to my other grandmothers house for another Christmas celebration. She felt warm but didn't think much of it because she is a very hot sleeper. Her eyes though, were extremely red and puffy. All around her eyes too. We got to my other grandmothers and she was having fun playing with all of her cousins. About an hour and half later it was present time. She came and sat on my lap and just looked miserable. She had no interest in presents. After she opened a couple of her presents she told me her tummy hurt. I just assumed she was hungry since she hadn't eaten all day. We went into the bathroom to go potty and she just put her head of my shoulder for a few minutes. I thought she was ready to fall asleep. As soon as we came out of the bathroom she puked her milk that she had just drank all over me, down my shirt, all over my bra, down my pants, down her shirt. I ran her back to the sink where she kept puking. Being 19 weeks pregnant the smell of curdled milk being puked up made me start dry heaving too. I thought I was going to get sick. I changed her clothes, said some quick goodbyes and Ryan drove us back to my other grandmas house. Ryan stayed with her while I showered and started a load of laundry then he went back to the Christmas party.

We spent Christmas night rocking and watching Cartoons. She ate a popsicle and started to perk up a little bit. By bedtime she seemed better. We just assumed it was a combination of not eating, taking benadryl, it being unbelievably hot in the house, and the milk. We weren't worried about her getting sick anymore. At 1am I woke up to check on her and she was on fire. I took her temp and it was 102.7. I woke her up to give her tylenol and she slept the rest of the night. She woke up in the morning fine. She played all morning and was being her silly, goofy self. We packed up the car after lunch and headed home. She stayed awake the whole 4 hour drive, while I slept! We got home, she still wouldn't eat. This is now day 4 of her not eating. She's never been a good eater but she eats more than she was. She went to bed with a 101.4 fever. She woke up this morning with her eyes matted shut with gunk and wouldn't stop crying. I called her doctor but they said they didn't see patients for pink eye and blew off the ear infection part. Instead of waiting on a call back from the nurse I went ahead and took her to urgent care which is connected to her dr office. As we were checking in her pediatrician saw us and said she would see her right then. She has her first ear infection and possible pink eye. She wasn't convinced it was pink eye and thinks its more just drainage from her ear infection. But she gave us Amoxicillian and eye drops. $85 eye drops, for just 3 days of drops! They better be made of gold or something. We were also given a new allergy med for when she is at a house with cats.

As soon as she got some Tylenol and the first dose of meds she is back to good ol Raegan. She has had so much fun all day playing with all of her toys from Christmas. The house is a mess, it looks like a toy store threw up in here. I better go clean it before Ryan gets home.

And then I just found out that a family I babysit for is due June 4 with #2 (Kaylie will be 2 in May as well!) Holy baby boom! Big news!

Ryan, Raegan and I are happy to announce that Raegan is going to be a big sister!!!!! For this is the reason that I have been blogging MIA. I have been so sick. This pregnancy has been beyond miserable and I didn't think it could be any worse than Raegan's was but man was I wrong.

I am 17 weeks and have lots of catching up to do. So here goes...

Raegan turned 2 July 30. We went under contract on the new house on July 31. We decided the following week that after the next cycle we would say whatever happens happens and go off birth control. Well, we are America's most fertile because I got pregnant immediately once again. September 3 Ball State played IU at Lucas Oil Stadium. I woke up that morning so freaking nauseous. We had a baby sitter coming over for Raegan and Ryan and I were going to head downtown to tailgate before the game. He said I was pregnant and was going on a beer run and would pick up a pregnancy test. I said there was no point to take it because I was still 5 days away from my period. But of course as soon as he returned with it I took it and BAM pregnant. What the what? I was only 3 weeks and a couple days and I was already feeling like crap. With Raegan I was ok until week 6 before getting sick for 6 weeks. I wasn't so lucky this time. I was nauseous from week 3 until week 6 then I started puking and puking and puking and puking. I called my OB immediately and got some prescription meds. They did nothing. By week 8 I was down 4 pounds and by week 12 I was down 8. I was on Zofran, Phenegran, Reglan, and Vitamin B6... all worthless. Finally by my 16 week appointment my OB told me to try Unisom the sleep aid. It has helped a lot. But I am still not out of the woods yet.

I started feeling moving really early this time like 12-13 weeks. This baby is so active its unreal. Raegan never was this crazy. Ryan and I might be having a wild child. Is it a boy? Maybe? Maybe not. We go for our anatomy ultrasound on December 29. As of now we are planning on NOT finding out the gender, if we can make it through the appointment without asking. And if you know Ryan and I, this is crazy. We bought everything pink for Raegan, carseat, stroller, pack n play, swing, bumbo...everything. We will end up getting a gender neutral carseat this spring just in case its a boy but we will keep the pink one too. And we arent doing a gender neutral nursery. We are waiting until after the baby is born to do the nursery since the baby will be in our room for the first month or two.

We pretty much have our names set but aren't telling those either. We are keeping everything a surprise since there is a good chance this will be our last baby since I am so sick again. I can't take it. There have been days that I didn't know if I was going to make it through the day. My house has been a mess, I don't cook anymore because nothing sounds good and certain smells, like the pantry make me puke. My child watches way too much tv so I can rest and nap. But remind me of all this again in 2 years when I am ready for another one!

House week 6- 13

Well I've done a terrible job at keeping this blog updated and I have an excuse for that but I will get to that in another post. The house is almost done. We close on Monday the 12. It has gone by so fast and we love it. I don't have any pictures on this computer so I can't post any right now but we will be taking lots of pictures over the next couple of weeks as the house comes together. We close Monday, and have painters there Tuesday and Wednesday and then the alarm system will get installed.

It's been so nice living so close to the house so we can go over anytime. And the builders gave us the code for the garage door so we can get in at anytime which is great because I have had so many appointments from painters to blinds to the alarm system. Centex/Pulte have been great to work with too. Anything we have needed or want changed has been done immediately.

I love our house and am so excited that the building process has come to an end and its time to move in and make it our home!

New House week 5- electrical and plumbing

Electrical and plumbing have started this week. The furnace and fireplace have been installed. We have a pre-dry wall meeting on Friday to go over where we want all of our electical and cable outlets and any question or concerns we have. So if everything checks out we will start drywall next week! Yay!

New House- Week 4- Windows and Roof

The house is coming right along. And surprisingly we haven't been there every single day checking things out. But we did notice that 2 things were wrong- there was no window in the garage and we had the wrong front door. We contacted the construction manager and he took care of the window right away. We now have a window in the garage! Ryan is excited about that. We are suppose to have a plain full front door but they gave us a half moon instead. We told them it was fine to keep the half moon, we didn't mind, but they just couldn't charge us the $400 extra for it. They said they would change it! haha! My gorgeous, beautiful, big bath tub has been installed, we well as the kids bathtub. The roof was put on and the windows were installed, the trim was painted white, and we now have our garage doors too!

New house- Week 3- Framing

On Saturday, September 24 the framing on the house started.

By Monday the 24 the second floor was started. It's crazy how fast they are building it.

We went over there Tuesday night at 6:30pm and the "Monsters" as Raegan calls them, were still working. So we couldn't go upstairs and check things out but were able to walk around the downstairs. The roof is on and the black tarp down so the shingles will probably start sometime next week. As well as windows going in maybe by the end of this week.

House week 2... foundation!

September 21, 2011- Foundation of the new house was poured! Yay! Hopefully within the next week or so the framing will start! I can't wait to drive by and see the wood for the framing sitting there waiting to be put up!

Tonight when went on a walk to see the finished foundation. It was a beautiful evening.

Baby Grace!

Raegan is getting quite the imagination. I love that she is so creative and her imagination is really coming out. She is so fun to play with. She is such a little mommy with her baby dolls. She finally has named her babydolls all by herself. She named them Baby Grace. (Kaylie's middle name is Grace and she likes calling her Kaylie Grace.) She calls most of her babies Baby Grace, but her little mini circo dolls from Target are her favorite and they go every where with her and she has to sleep with them at night. She has two, we left one at the lake on accident and so she was down to one but she was ok with that. But then one night we couldn't find Baby Grace. It was a rough night. I had to go to Target the next day and buy another one. And then of course the original Baby Grace was found.

Baby Whitney

I have started watching another friends baby on Mondays and Wednesdays along with Kaylie. Kaylie is now 16 months and Whitney is 3 months. Whitney is a really sweet baby and Raegan loves her. She wants to help me with everything. Feeding her, burping her, holding her, changing her diaper. She will be such a good big sister... someday!

First Day of School!

This will be our annual first day picture!

Raegan's first day of Mother's Day Out was on August 30. She goes just on Tuesdays from 9:15-1 to our churches preschool. The first day I cried for a good hour after dropping her off the first time. Second day I cried for like 10 minutes after dropping her off. Today, I didn't cry at all! Yay! Go me! She loves school and her teachers. She has so much fun. Today after picking her up she was telling me about her new friend Kylee and how they colored with markers.

House update!

Oh, I have been terrible about keeping up with house stuff on here. We have been so busy picking everything out and finalizing the plans with the builder. We had a tough time deciding on hardwoods. We (I) want cherry cabinets. But they cherry floors make everything look very cherry. But the other hardwoods just didn't go well with the cabinets. So we went with the cherry floors. Hopefully it wont look as cherry as this picture of another house we walked through to look at our options.

We went with oil rubbed bronze fixtures, nobs, everything. And then our granite we chose is Venetian Gold 2 (or something like that)

The hardest decision of all was the exterior package. We knew we wanted black shutters but weren't really sure besides that. We ideally want white siding and dark brick, but that is not an option for our neighborhood right now. Stupid. They have just about every shade of tan you can imagine though. Grey and then sage green. If I liked the siding, I didn't like the brick options. We waited til the last possible minute we could to choose. It was between Sandstone, which was a light yellowish/offwhite. Or Dover Grey. I liked the darkest tan which was pebble but I wanted to stay away from tan since there are so many shades of tan in the neighborhood. We ended up going with the grey with Ceder Creek siding.

We had our pre-construction meeting at 9am on September 8. As soon as the meeting was over we broke ground. Yay! Everything is set to be done at the beginning of December and move in by Christmas! Woo!

2 year checkup!

Today Raegan had her 2 year check up with Dr. Freeman. I had been prepping her on her appointment since she had to have one shot. She kept calling Dr. Freeman, Dr. Pepper! Haha! Love that girl! Dr. Freeman is awesome and we never have to wait, which Raegan doesn't like because then she can't see the fishys. We got to go into the Princess room for her appointment. Dr. Freeman is beyond impressed with how great she is doing. She is healthy, happy, very advanced in gross motor and fine motor skills and her vocabulary is also very advanced for a 2 year old. She was telling Dr. Freeman about her birthday party. She told her that mommy made cupcakes and she got to blowout the candles and she got a bicycle. When Dr.F asked if she runs and jumps and can go up and down the stairs, Raegan said she jumps rope and then started jumping on the table. Dr. Freeman was more than impressed that she was wearing her big girl Minnie Mouse panties and that she has been potty trained for a couple of weeks. Dr Freeman said they not very many 2 year olds are potty trained or even close to be trained. Yay Raegan! She got an A+++ for her appointment.

Raegan is allowed to switch to 2% milk now and gets to starts taking Flintstone vitamins! After her 2 year old molars come in she will start going to the dentist. Fishers has a great Pediatric Dentist office!

We had to have Dr. Freeman fill out a form for her MDO program and then the nurse came in to give her a shot. She was suppose to have this shot at her 18m checkup but since she was sick for the first time ever, we waited for her 2 year appt. She sat on my lap and watch the nurse stick her thigh. I couldn't watch. She is tougher than me. The nurse then gave her a princess bandaid that she was very excited about and then Raegan blew the nurse a kiss! When we checked out she got a sticker of Backpack and Boots from Dora the Explorer.

Raegan's 2 year stats-

Height- 34 1/2 inches She has dropped from 97th percentile to 70th percentile. But she is still very tall
Weight- 27 lbs 8oz. She has moved up from 30th percentile to 60th. I was shocked by this. I didn't think she would be much more than 25 lbs. She doesn't eat very much. But she has gained less than a pound since May but Dr. Freeman wasn't concerned about that.
She still has a little peanut head. It is still in the 30th percentile.

Raegan is still rear facing in the car. The law is 2 years or the weight of the seat. Her seat is 45lb for RF. Ryan is ready to turn her around. I just dont think I am ready yet. Statistics show how much safer rear facing is. I just feel comfortable with her RF. Maybe this fall or winter I will be ready to turn her around. Maybe once winter is over!

As long as Raegan doesn't get sick we don't have to go back to the doctor until her 3 year checkup! Yay for a healthy and happy baby!

Officially SOLD!

After Ryan got home from work today we went to our lot and put the SOLD sign on. 13624 Van Buren Place is officially ours! Yay! Now we just need all the paperwork to process and we will break ground! I have a feeling we will be walking over there every day between now and Dec!

UNDER CONTRACT!!!!!

Yesterday, July 31, we signed and went under contract to build our house! I am so excited. This has been a long and stressful process. We have probably looked at 35 houses, between move in ready new builds, models, and previously owned houses that were less than 5 years old.

In the last week we decided it was between building in the neighborhood in Noblesville with Noblesville schools or stay in our neighborhood we are in now and build new, and stay in the HSE school system. We then narrowed it down to the 2 biggest floor plans each neighborhood had. The "Washington" in Noblesville is 3200 sq ft and the "Sizemore" in Fishers is just over 3500 sq ft. Both have 3 car garages, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, upstairs loft, fireplace, hardwoods, granite, stainless steal appliances, separate tub and shower in master bath, ect. Washington starts at 193, Sizemore at 185.

Sunday morning we drove to the south east side of Indy to walk through the Washington model again. We then drove to Noblesville and drove through the neighborhood again. There was only 1 lot available for the Washington. When you build new the communities make sure that 2 houses with the same floor plan are not next to each other or across the street from one another. That left us with only one lot that was big enough for the house and not close to another Washington. I did't like the lot at all. It did not have a big yard at all and there was another house right behind you. No me gusta. I then made Ryan drive by the Noblesville Schools that our kids would go to if we lived there. Neither of us were impressed at all with what we saw. And they are not close to the house.

I then had Ryan drive by the HSE schools and by the FHS sports complex and we were both very impressed with everything we saw. We came home and looked over the Sizemore floor plan again. Ryan played around with it on his computer, added shutters, a third car garage, changed the color and we loved it!

We went and met with Lauren the new homes consultant and priced out the house with all of our upgrades and got an amazing deal. Last day of the month, end of the day= great time to buy a house! Score! We had to switch lots because if we wanted a 3rd car garage our house would be too big to fit on our lot of our choice that is just down the street from where we live now. We could literally watch the house being built from our driveway now. So we went and walked the lots and picked a new one on the other side of the neighborhood, and it has a huge yard! I am sad to leave our street and all the friends we've made here but looking forward to our new house!

Since I don't have any income my name is not on the contract for the house so Ryan got to spend forever signing all the papers and I entertained Raegan. She did so well playing by herself for the 3 hours we were there. She had fun looking through Miss Laurens books of all the different house. Ryan then had to write a nice big check to get the process started. By the time we left it was past dinner time and almost her bedtime, so as soon as the papers were signed we headed out the door. BUT, we forgot to get our SOLD sticker for the lot sign. Raegan and I went back this morning to pick it up. I can't wait to go back tonight and put it on!

As soon as all the paper work is finalized we will be breaking ground! It should be started by the middle to end of August and close in December! I hope we can close before Christmas! What a great Christmas present!
