Peek a boo

Raegans favorite game is playing peek a boo with a baby blanket. Whenever she hides I call out for "Raegan, Raegan" well now she calls for herself except she calls herself "Rae Rae!" I love this video!

Miss Smarty Pants

Raegs got some Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles for Christmas. She really hasn't shown much interest in the actual puzzles, just the animals, until today. She pulled the puzzles out and all the pieces and then started matching the animals and putting them today. It was amazing. She did it all on her own. She is so smart! Which reminds me, I got her first tuition bill in the mail for her Mothers Day Out program she is starting in the fall at our church. Do they really need it call it tuition. Yuck.

Royal Wedding

Raegan and I have been facisnated all morning by the Royal Wedding of William and Kate. We have spent hours in front of the TV watching all the coverage. Of course we did NOT get up at 4am to watch it live. We started watched it for an hour before going to Gymboree class and watched about 2 hours after we got home. She kept saying "wow pretty!" She loved seeing all the horses too. So glad we can say that she watched the wedding of a real princess!

Raegie Hahaj

Raegan has been able to say her last name for a few months now. About two weeks ago she started calling herself "Rae Rae." Now when you ask her what her name is she will say "Raegie Hahaj!" Which is so funny because we never call her Rae Rae or Raegie. She is just too smart!

Stupid Mac. I don't know if these videos are going to work.

It's stuck

Every night before bug goes to bed she sits on her potty and goes pee pee. The other night she went pee and then said she need to poop so she sat back down and started pushing. After a few pushes she looked at Ryan and said "It's stuck!" It was hilarious! One of the funniest things she has ever done/said! Love her to pieces!

Easter 2011

We spent Easter this year in Evansville. Raegan had so much fun dying Easter eggs and then searching all over the house for them. We kept having to re-hide them because she wanted "more." It was a quick and expensive trip, drove 8 hours round trip to be there for 24 hours and spent about $100 just on gas, but it was all worth it.

The adventures of potty training!

During the winter Raegan started showing a lot of interest in potty training. She would always tell us before she pooped and would want to be changed immediately. I went and got two pottys, a 3-1 chair for her bathroom and just a ring for downstairs. When we first started she loved to sit on the potty and push and try to poo but nothing would come out. So I just had to watch for her signs that she was going to poo. And she pretty much poo's at the same time everyday so that helps. She is doing very well with pooping on the potty.

Just in the last month she has started peeing on the potty. Now the real adventures have begun. I am by no means pushing her to potty train though. I can not imagine driving in the car or being in the middle of the grocery store with a cart full of food and hearing that precious little voice saying "mommy pee pee" Diapers are just easier and really I only spend $20 a month on diapers so they aren't even a huge expense.

My grandma is making me blog this story about Bug because she thinks she will just love hearing it when shes older. Oh grams! A couple of weeks ago I put Bug down for her nap and a few minutes later I hear "Mommy poopy. Yucky! Mommy! Ewwww!" I run into her room and see her standing there with her pants and diaper off, and poopy diaper in hand. LUCKILY, there was not poop smeared all over her room.

I changed her and put her back to bed. Couple minutes of later, "Mommy, pee. Mommy, Daddy yucky!" I go back in there and she had her pants and diaper off and was standing there naked. These types of games went on at bedtime for like a week. Even if we zipped her up in her jammies she would unzip it and take her diaper off. But never made any messes. Just let us know, no matter what time day or night that she went potty.

My best trick right now for potty training Bug is that I found Minnie Mouse panties at TJ Maxx and I just keep reminding her to keep Minnie Mouse dry and clean. Every morning from when she wakes up until she takes her nap after lunch she wears just her panties and a shirt (when we are home.) And then again from after dinner until bedtime she is just in her panties. It is working really well. And she has definitely mastered her potty dance!

I have read the 3 Day Potty Training Manuel but that terrified me and I am NOT that hard core. I will not stay in my house for 3 days straight without my phone or tv or computer and never leave my childs side for 3 days to potty train her. I hope to have her potty trained by her second birthday but I am in no rush and will not go to crazy extreems to train her. She's doing it everyday and one day it will click to do it everytime she needs to go.

She loves playing on the iPad and going potty! She is totally her fathers child!

E-Mealz rave!

Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday nights I take a zumba class. It starts at 6:15. Sundays we have an early family dinner but on Tuesdays and Thursdays I make dinner before I leave and then eat when I get home. Well last night I made an E-Mealz recipe called "Unforgettable Chicken Casserole." It was easy to make and Raegan loved helping make it. It was a rotessori chicken, celery, mayo, sour cream, cheese, and cream of chicken soup. Super healthy! HA! I put it in a pie pan, it called for a 7x11 but I didn't have one that size. Baked it for 40 minutes and left for zumba. Told Ryan to take it out put crispy french onion straws on top and bake for another 10 minutes.

After I left I sent him a text saying if it was bad I could bring something home for dinner. After class I look at my phone and see a text saying "You might want to bring something home for dinner. Sorry."

I felt so bad. He then responds and tells me that it was amazing and that he and Raegan ate the entire thing and that I needed to bring something home for myself because there was nothing left! I don't like celery so I didn't think it would be good. But he said what is there not to like about chicken, cheese, sour cream all mixed together. Raegan even ate a lot! Score! He told me to make it again... soon! Now I have to make it again soon so that I can try it. Plus it was so easy to make!

E-Mealz!

I am part of a internet based mommy group. We use to be a public message board but recently changed to a private invite only board for security purposes. We are all based out of Indiana, mostly in the Indy area and have get togethers and playdates all the time. Recently, one of the moms mentioned she signed up for e-mealz. For 3 months of meal planning it was $12.50. I signed up for the Kroger meal plan and its been great!

Every other Friday I get my 2 week Kroger meal plan. It is a meal plan for 7 meals, and 5-6 people. The meal plans on based on Krogers sale items which is great! We, Ryan especially, has enjoyed trying new things. Even though we only cook about 5 times a week I chose the 7 meals per week since I am picky I have an option to switch a meal out. And 5-6 people option I can have leftovers for lunch.

E-mealz has a bunch of different menu options and stores options, Walmart, Aldi, to weight watchers, low cal, low fat, meal for 2, ect. Each week the dinners cost about $50-70 and the recipes aren't crazy. The ingredients are all everyday things. And if you need to buy a whole onion but only use half an onion for one recipe another recipe that week will call for the other half.

We just started it but I am excited to have new food options. I was getting tired of the same things over and over. I only plan on doing it for 3-6 months and then cancel it but save all the recipes so we have them on file.

This week we have had homemade pizza rolls, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken casserole, bow-tie lasagna, and onion smothered pork chops. So far they have all been a huge success! Even my picky little Raegan has eaten them! The menu is for the main course but tells you to pair the chicken casserole with green beans and bread or the pizza rolls with a caesar salad.

Looking forward to getting my new 2 week menu emailed tomorrow!

Ball State Soccer alumni weekend!

The third weekend of April is always the Ball State Women's Soccer Alumni weekend. The team has a "new" coach. He has been at BSU for a year now. He showed up last year right before alumni weekend. So last year was low key. Nothing really planned besides the game. Which was fine with us. More time to hang out and drink. Well this year the coach had it all planned out for us. Unfortunately he had the game scheduled for 5pm on Saturday. Stupid. That totally gets in the way with our drinking schedule. The game usually starts at 1 and we, the alumni, are usually hungover and sometimes puking on the sidelines.

The weather was shitty this year. It was 45 degrees and raining, with 28mph winds. We played on the football field since it's turf so we wouldn't destroy the soccer field. The current team had 2 games before us to make up from spring games that were cancelled. They did not want to play by the time kickoff came. It was a total debbie downer. The half drunk alumni won 2-1. After the game some people showered, not me, I just wanted to get the The Locker Room and start drinking. It was a fun night with the girls, catching up with some of them that I haven't seen in years. It was sad that a lot of the girls couldn't come back though. Brenda, class of 2006 and I, class of 2007 were the oldest almuni's that came back.

Brenda and I

Ryan and Raegan went to Fort Wayne since it was Ryan's dads birthday. He took my jeep and changed the breaks for me. I didn't leave for the game Saturday until about 3 and came home at 2am. They didn't get home until 3:30 Sunday. It was so nice having the weekend to myself at home. I was able to grocery shop by myself (GASP!) and doing laundry and clean up and more importantly, lay on the couch and watch a lifetime movie! I was happy when my baby got home though!

The lots

Our hopefully new house will soon be sitting on one of these lots! Raegan and I went for a walk yesterday and went to the other side of the neighborhood and they started paving the roads!

I would love for our house to be on one of these lots on Pierce Drive (Place? Lane? not sure!) Love the little bit of trees that are still there to have in the back yard! But, a big but, is that these houses would face north like our house now, and I HATE that. Our driveway and front yard get NO sun. Which is awful in the winter. Our neighbors across the street might shovel a little and the sun melts the ice and snow away. Not us! Plus we play so much in the front yard in the summer and there is never any sun :(

This is across the street on Pierce Place (Drive? Lane? Way?) The front of the house would face the south on these lots.

Pierce Place (Lane, Drive, Way?)

Van Buren Place
These lots are a little more expensive but the back yard would have some trees and the front would face the south. Winner!

EMMIE!

So my bff Brandi is a nanny. She babysits for Raegan whenever I need to go get my hair done or have an appointment or something. She lives in Carmel and has a bulldog named Emmie. Raegan went over to her house back in February to hang out with Brandi for a little while and I got to have some "me" time. Raegs became OBSESSED with Emmie. Raegan kept talking about Emmie. She would be in her bed and you would hear her talking about Emmie doggy. Well, on St. Pattys Day Brandi, Raegan and I met for lunch. At one point Brandi got up and went to talk to someone at another table and Raegan started yelling out for Emmie. HAHAHA! Raegan calls Brandi by her dogs name! Brandi's husband and I find this hilarious! I tried to explain to her that Brandi is Emmie's mommy and Emmie is a doggy. Raegan didn't catch on. Whenever she see Brandi she says Emmie. After I got back from Greenwood over the weekend, Brandi came in to say hi to bug. Raegan of course got so excited for EMMIE! When Brandi left Raegan stood there and waved while saying "Bye Emmie, Bye!"

She will catch on one of these days!

Bragging about vocabulary again!

As of naptime today we are up to 132 words! AHHHH! Unreal! She is speaking in full out sentences! You can actually have a conversation with her and she loves to talk on the phone to her Great Grandma and Grandma!

Her new words are
Toast
Happy (when I sing her "You are my sunshine" before naptime she always yells HAPPY at the you make me happy part!)
Blanket
Waffle
Trash
Pie (thanks to Dr. Suess' Eye Book)
Ants
Fork
Spoon
Knife
Burp
Choo Choo
Nemo
Elmo (I have no idea how she knows who Elmo is. We have never watched Elmo a day in her life)
Orange
Banana
Flower
Diaper
Bus
Truck
Monkey
Heart
Bee. Buzz Buzz
Fly
Tip (when she wants to do "I'm a little teapot" she will say "tip" and lean over so you will sing it and she can dance"

It's so great now when I ask her what she wants for breakfast she will tell me what she wants. Usually a blueberry waffle, french toast or pancakes with banana or blueberries. She will say "toast mommy bamama" "waffle booberries peas (please)"

Raegan is also so very polite. She always says peas and dank you!

She almost knows all of her ABC's too. She loves to sing it. Everytime I try and take a video she stops but it is so cute. Her favorite letter is P and will yell it as loud as she can!

Cheese!

Exciting things happening!

Soooo... Ryan and I have been looking at houses. We really want and need a 4 bedroom house. We are starting to talk about Baby #2 in the near future and don't feel like this house fits us. It is 2700 square feet, 3 bedroom, 2.5 baths. The playroom is upstairs which I love but the bedrooms are all around the playroom. So it will be next to impossible for baby 2 to be sleeping with Raegan playing and making a ton of noise.

We decided we want to stay in our neighborhood. We love this neighborhood. Love the people. Love the parks, walking trails, pool and playground. We love the schools. Love the location. Love everything. We got with our realator Deanna who also lives in the neighborhood and she showed us a house for sale that we have loved since the day we moved in here.

It has been on the market for a couple of months now. We aren't wanting to move until Fall but we went and looked at this house anyways. Ryan loved it. I liked it. It has BEAUTIFUL curb appeal and a great kitchen and master suite. The rest of the house isn't as functional as I would like with kids. Ryan is crazy about toys downstairs. The toys that are downstairs have to be put away when he walks in the door or he gets instantly grumpy. Thats why the playroom is upstairs in the loft. This house just down the street from us which is great since we love our street! It had a loft upstairs but much smaller one than what we have now. We decided not to make an offer on it. Deanna tooks us to another house on another street with a basement but the rest of the house was a definite no! We got to talking and decided to go to the Centex model home and talk to a new home consultant about building a new house here in the neighborhood! Eeks!

We met with Lauren the new homes consultant the next day. We walked through 2 models and instantly fell in love with the first one. And the model home name is Carson, which was a top contender of boys names! We need a fourth bedroom with bonus room so our house would be bigger than the model and a little different curb appeal. The Carson is a little over 2900 square feet but has a formal office, formal dining room, super open amazing kitchen, great room, and half bath downstairs, and then 3 bedrooms a bonus room, bathroom, laundry and master suite upstairs. The garage is 2 car with a tandem!

That is what the model home looks like. Our house will have two windows over the garage where the "in-law" suite would be aka bedroom #4.

We've had a lot of fun going through the list of optional upgrades and picking out everything, EVERYTHING! From the lot we want to build on, the counters, cabinets, carpet, hardwood, trey ceilings, french doors on Ryan's office, fireplace, everything for the bathrooms, lights, everything we want in our house!

We go back in 2 weeks to meet with Lauren again and "build" our house to see where we are on the final price! And see if there is anything else we want to add or remove from the upgrades we have been deciding on.

Picking out upgraded cabinets!

Picking out upgraded countertops. Either Corian or Granite!

Looking at exterior siding and brick options!

Carpet, hardwoods, and marble bath upgrade options

Upgraded fireplace options

A picture of another Carson home in our neighborhood with the in law suite over the garage! Beautiful! Love the house, love the porch, love everything!

Building makes perfect sense for us! We know exactly what we want and we agree on everything. We have almost all the same likes and dislikes when it comes to a house. The new section of homes are in "pre-sale" right now. The roads aren't in yet so Centex is waiting for the roads to be finished before they can start the construction of the new home. Lauren said it will be late summer when construction will start which is perfect for the timeline we want!

Finally warm weather!

This weekend was beautiful! It was so nice to have Raegan outside playing all day. Saturday morning I got up and went to Greenwood with my bff Brandi, for a coupon class. Have you seen the show Extreme Couponing on TLC? Ok, yeah, a class to do that! It was interested but a little overboard for me. Tonya the coupon lady said it is a full time job to extreme coupon. Yeah, so not happening. It was interesting to learn some tricks and tips and save a little more money but I dont need to stockpile 200 rolls of toilet paper, cases of paper towels, enough laundry detergent for the rest of the year, and a deep freeze full of frozen milk, cheese, yogurt and chicken. It was awesome that in Tonya's stockpile that she spent less than $200 for everything but it was in deed extreme. I don't have time to drive all over town going to Meijer, Target, CVS, Kroger, and Walmart to get free food. Gas is almost $4 a gallon. I will continue to do my grocery shopping at Kroger so I can get my fuel points and then Target for other household stuff. I also don't have time or energy to spend 8 hours a day 7 days a week looking at coupon blogs, clipping coupons, buying coupons, making list, organizing a coupon binder and shop all over town with a 1 year old. So not happening.

But I did learn some good coupon stacking tricks and where to find good deals so I look forward to my shopping trip tomorrow to see how much I save.

While in Greenwood I received a text that a house in our neighborhood was struck by lightening and was on fire. It knocked our cable and power out. Ryan said it was super bright and so loud. It was nice knowing 5 firetrucks were at the house, just one street over, in 3 minutes. By the time I got home early Saturday afternoon it was bright, sunny and warm! We took a walk around the neighborhood and walked by the house that was on fire. It had quite a bit of damage and you could see where the lightening struck the roof. We talked to their neighbor and she said the owner of the house was on their way back from Spring Break in Florida. So heartbreaking. It could have been a lot worse though.

We spent the rest of the afternoon outside hanging out with some neighbors and their kids. Its great that there are so many kids Raegan's age on our street. Our neighbor has a little girl Ellie who is 6 months older than Raegan and across the street in Ally who is 4 months younger than Raegan and then a couple houses down in Kate who is a couple months younger than R as well.

Sunday morning Raegs and I got up and went for a run in the jogging stroller. I showered and then we went to Scotty's Lakehouse for brunch. It was very good and very different than the Brewhouse locations. We then went downtown and went to the Indianapolis Indians baseball game. They are a minor league AAA team of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The game started at 2 and well that is Raegans naptime. So she slept about 40 minutes in the car on the way there and was still so tired at the game. She laid down on the blanket and went night night! It was sunny and 84 degrees and she just wanted to cover up and sleep! I kept getting so many compliments all weekend from neighbors and friends at the game about how well behaved she is. Pat on the back for me!

We are over 100 words now!

A 20 month old should have 12-15 spoken vocabulary words. They should also be putting two words together to make a "sentence."

Raegan is over 100 words at 20 months! Her 100th word was SOCCER! I was wearing a BHSS soccer sweatshirt and she was pointing to the soccer ball this morning and saying ball. I said "soccer ball" and then she starting saying "soccer ball!"

She also says Mickey Mouse now! Yay! She loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and said Pete and then Daisy and now she says Mickey Mouse! Yay!

She seriously repeats everything, everything. There has been some major censoring going on in the Hahaj Household!

Ryan has been working from home a lot lately (WHOOP!) and Raegan loves it! She has her little pink and purple leap frog laptop and so every morning she grabs her computer and says "work" She loves using her orange sippy cups because Daddy always drinks his coffee from his orange coffee mug. The other day she didn't even want to leave to go shopping the other day because she was still working. So she had to take her computer in the car with her.

We were cleaning out the pantry this weekend and found an old set of house keys. We gave them to Bug and we also found my old pink Chocolate cell phone charger. She has been playing with my Chocolate forever but it was dead. Now she loves that it lights up again. It is so cute when she grabs one of "her" Coach purses puts the keys and phone inside. And then she grabs her computer and cup and has to "go car daddy work!" She thinks she needs to go get in the car to go bye bye and go to work like Daddy! She is just so cute and so dang smart.

Pioneer Woman recipe rav!

I love me some PW! If you haven't heard of her... google her... NOW!

Some of my mommy friends have been talking about her Spicy Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork recipe lately. I finally went to the grocery store Saturday to get everything to make it. Sunday morning I made it in the crock pot and it was AMAZING! I am so excited for the leftover tonight. http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2011/03/spicy-dr-pepper-shredded-pork/

Ingredients
1 whole Large Onion
1 whole Pork Shoulder ("pork Butt") - 5 To 7 Pounds (I used about 4.5 lbs of pork butt steaks!)
Salt And Freshly Ground Black Pepper
1 can (11 Ounce) Chipotle Peppers In Adobo Sauce (I only used 7oz)
2 cans Dr. Pepper
2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
Preparation Instructions
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Peel the onion and cut it into wedges. Lay them in the bottom of a large dutch oven.
Generously salt and pepper the pork roast, then set it on top of the onions in the pan.
Pour the can of chipotle peppers over the pork (include the sauce.) Pour in both cans of Dr Pepper. Add brown sugar to the juice and stir in.
Place lid tightly on pot, then set pot in the oven. Cook for at least six hours, turning roast two or three times during the cooking process. Check meat after six hours; it should be absolutely falling apart (use two forks to test.) If it’s not falling apart, return to the oven for another hour.
Remove meat from pot and place on a cutting board or other work surface. Use two forks to shred meat, discarding large pieces of fat. Strain as much of the fat off the top of the cooking liquid as you can and discard it. Return the shredded meat to the cooking liquid, and keep warm until ready to serve. (You can also refrigerate the meat and liquid separately, then remove hardened fat once it’s cold. Then heat up the liquid on the stovetop and return the meat to the liquid to warm up.
Serve on warm flour tortillas. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, avocado slices, salsa, and whatever else you’d like.

I love her blog because she doesn't just post the recipe she also puts up step by step pictures while she is making it. It makes it so easy and so fun.

I made my moms yummy slaw to go with it and baked beans. We just had it on hamburger buns and had some Big Oak BBQ sauce to go with it. Just like North Carolina!

Tomorrow I am making her Sour Cream Noodle Bake! So excited to try it! I read through the reviews and I substituting cream cheese instead of cottage cheese! Yummm!

Posting from my new MacBook Air!

All winter Ryan has been bugging me about wanting a MacBook. I kept telling him no. They are so expensive. Like the cheapest one is $1200. Yes, we have an interest free Best Buy card but NO! I have an HP laptop and he has a Dell laptop free from his work. He's been through 3 iPads in like 6 months. He does not need an new MacBook.

Well when I was in Btown after Madi was born Raegan and Daddy went to Best Buy. They had a MacBook Pro that was marked down to $900 or so he says. So of course he got it! The deal was just too good to pass up.

He had been talking to one of his clients about getting all Mac for a while now. And his client joked with him for months about getting him one. Well one March 31, he sent Ryan a text with a picture of a brand new in the box MacBook Air. We couldn't believe it. But knowing the next day was April Fools Day I wasn't getting my hopes up for it. Yes, me. I was complaining to Ryan just hours before that text came in that I hated my HP laptop. It is a POS. It is only 14 months old and crap. On April Fools Day Ryan came home with my brand new Mac!

I was hesitant about a Mac, maybe it was the price and not the actual computer operating system. I love my MacAir! It is so tiny. And perfect. and FREE! Ryan has worked so hard and I deserve it! :)

My new desk and my new computer!
