Can't add pics on iPad. I will try to remember tomorrow... Aka in one month!

GI doctor

Baylor got referred to a GI doctor for his acid reflux. The appointment wasn't until after we started seeing The chiropractor and seeing improvement from that. The GI basically said that since he is gaining weight he doesn't want to do any tests. I was relieved and disappointed at the same time. Yes he is gaining weight, less than a pound a month and his percentiles keep dropping. The GI basically said to go ahead and start solids and that should help some. The kicker is that he said he doesn't believe in elimination diets. He went through a long speech about how what I eat would not effect him and why he believes that. He told me to have a milk shake on the way home and enjoy it. So I did. Then I ate cheese the next day and man by day 3 I was regretting it. Baylor was the most miserable I have seen him in a while. He was screaming and spitting up like the good ol days! So now I don't believe what the GI specialist said because what I eat does effect him. We remain dairy free, eating solids and seeing the chiropractor 1-2 a week and keep on improving!

Halloween

Halloween has come and gone already and so has thanksgiving... It's almost christmas, how is that possible?

Raegan decided to be Rapunzel and that her brother needed to be Pascal, Rapunzel's chameleon side kick. His costume was actually a frog costume that I got from a friend but hey, it works! We had quite a few parties to go to and then of course trick or treating.  We went to our neighbors house for dinner and then the dads took the girls trick or treating. It was a little chilly out so the moms stayed home with the babies and wine!  Raegan is finally at the age where she understands Halloween and had so much fun running door to door. In the 30 min she went trick or treating she got a ton of candy. And the crazy thing is that she doesn't even really like candy, ok she likes it but doesn't care about it. After Halloween night she never asked for another piece! Score for me! I'm sure that will probably change in the near future!

Ryan got to go to Raegan's school for a dads night Halloween party. R got to wear her dress and they carved pumpkins and decorated cookies. Then the class sang some of the songs they have been working on. I made sure that Ryan recorded all of it because I wa super jealous he got to go and not me. (I get to go for Valentine's Day!) My favorite song she did was Jesus Loves Me. Yes, the song is great and all but in the middle of the performance she noticed the boy next to her had dirty hands (markers from coloring) so of course my child had to start saying "His hands are dirty. He didn't
Wash his hands!" You could hear Ryan laugh at first but then she wouldn't stop saying it while the other kids are trying to sing so then you hear Ryan say Raegan stop it! It was hilarious! I can't post any pics or videos from the iPad but I will have Ryan upload them to YouTube and then share the link!

Disclaimer: the iPad isn't spell checking this for some reason so please ignore any typos! :)

I would be a lot better at blogging...

Except I recently discovered mydeathspace dot com and webslueths dot com and I spend every spare second reading murder/stalking ect mysteries. It all started when I heard about the stalking of Morgan Ingram. She was felony stalked last fall for four months before she was found dead in her room. Her mom has been writing a daily blog recounting what happened last year. Then I heard about the other website forums and read over 4000 posts about Morgan's mystery about whether it was suicide or murder from the stalkers. I then saw that Lauren Spierer has quite a few threads on those sites about her disappearance so now I am reading all of those. Ryan thinks I am crazy but I am hooked. I like reading while I'm pumping but not too much catches my attention until now. If I didn't spend so much time on my iPad reading these I wouldn't be so far behind. I've never blogged from the iPad but I am going to give it a shot tonight and stay off the mystery forums and not have strange dreams for the first time in a couple of weeks.

Baylor's visit to the chiropractor!

About 2 months ago I had a friend tell me that her infant daughter saw a Chiropractor for her acid reflux. At the time we had just started the Prevacid so I wanted to give that a try. Our insurance would not let us get the solutabs which everyone said was great for their kid and really helped. So we ended up with generic Prevacid compound. It took almost 10 days for it to really start working and see that it was helping B. He was comfortable, not spitting up, not fighting sleep, sleeping through the night, it was great. I was so excited we finally got something that helped him. Unfortunately, about a week later his symptoms started to reappear. I talked to the Target pharmacist who told me the compound was breaking down and to have our pediatrician call in a 15 day supply instead of a 30 day so that we would refill it every 2 weeks before it started breaking down. Well guess what, our insurance denied it! So frustrating! Then the Prevacid made B terribly constipated. After 14 days of only one bowel movement we had to give him a suppository to make him poo. 10 minutes after giving him the suppository he pooped and was much more comfortable. This went on for 2 months and I decided it wasn't worth it. The compound was very expensive even with insurance and it only helped his reflux 10 days a month but caused bad constipation. I stopped giving it to him and gave him about 2 weeks without meds hoping that since he was almost 6 months old, which seems to be a magically age for so many with reflux, and that he is sitting up and getting ready to start crawling that maybe, just maybe his reflux would be better. Nope, of course not! Last Friday I called the pediatrician back and they said there is nothing more they can do since we already tried all the meds, I am dairy free, and we are holding off on solids, so we were referred to a GI specialist at Riley Childrens Hospital. More about that later. After listening to B scream for a good 45 minutes from being so uncomfortable I jumped on trusty Google and searched for a pediatric chiropractor. Lucky for us, I found Dr. Nancy in Carmel! I later talked to two friends who have used her, one during pregnancy and another for her son (not for reflux). Her website says she helps kids with reflux, ear infections, bed wetting, ect. Impressive (if it works!)

I called Dr. Nancy Friday morning and was able to get B in that afternoon. So off to Carmel we went. Luckily with it being a 4pm appointment Ryan was able to meet us there. B started off getting a scan of his neck. His C2 especially, and then C3 and C4 were all out of whack. (Red = not good!)

Dr. Nancy did her evaluation and treatment at the same time since you have such a small window with a 5 month old before he is over it. She said his neck and spine seem like that of a c-section baby that was yanked out, which he was not. She then did an adjustment where she takes a little gun looking machine and it taps each side of his neck. She did it to me first and it doesn't hurt. Just a small tap. She felt his neck release and said she thinks it would take 5 treatments and he then wouldn't need to see the GI doc. And if it didn't work after 5 treatments that we would discuss diet. Well I am already dairy free, I drink maybe one or two Dr. Peppers a week, I don't drink coffee, what more can I do?   She warned us that he would probably have a runny nose, cough. bowel movement, watery eyes and probably sleep terrible that night. Well, she was right on with the sleeping terrible part! We have gone 3 times now and each night after treatment he will only sleep if being held. Last night he was up every hour or two. I have never, ever had one of my kids do that before. It was exhausting. His eyes were closed but he was just crying and seemed so uncomfortable  I finally gave him some gas drops and he then slept from 530a-830a when his sister woke him up.

Saturday I was so impressed with how much better he was doing. I couldn't believe that the chiropractor might actually be the answer. He was burping so much better, not spitting up nearly as much, wasn't arching his back when trying to be burped or pulling his legs in and grunting while eating. Yay, a little victory! By Sunday night he was starting to get uncomfortable again and I was excited to head back to Dr. Nancy Monday. B started nursing again and I was so excited that I no longer had to pump all of his bottles. Yay, another little victory!  It was so nice to nurse at night and not warm up a bottle. Unfortunately,  I haven't noticed a difference the past couple of days with 2 more treatments under our belt. And I am honestly dreading going back tomorrow because of how terrible he slept last night. Part of me wonders if he isn't improving as much now because he is nursing a couple times a day again. Monday will be our 5th visit and I think Dr. Nancy is doing another scan of the neck. I am interested to see if it has improved at all. Tuesday we have our appointment with the GI doctor and will then evaluate on whether we want to keep driving to Carmel 3x a week for the Chiropractor.

Our pediatrician set us up with the GI doctor for next week and I am so nervous for his appointment. I just don't know what to expect. Will he try us on another new med first or just order tests right away. From what trusty Dr. Google has said it looks like his test options will be a pH probe test which requires a 24 hour hospital stay and a tube down to his stomach to test the acid levels. The could also do an upper GI endoscopy where they would have to sedate him and stick a camera down his throat to check his esophagus and stomach. Or a swallow study where he drinks barium and then has an x-ray done. The first two scare the shit out of me. The thought of putting my 6 month old baby under sedation, even if it is only for 15 minutes makes me want to lose it! And then the thought of staying in the hospital for 24 hours with a tube down his nose and his arms in "no-no's" so that he can't bend his arms and pull the tube out makes me want to lose it. But I want answers and I want him to feel better. He has been miserable for almost 6 months now. He has been on medication since he was a week old. It's not fair to him. Im afraid this is going to be a long drawn out process especially with the holidays coming up and we won't get any answers any time soon. But gosh darn it I want them done before the end of the year especially if there is a hospital stay involved since we have already met our deductible this year!

School has started! (1.5 months ago!)

Raegan has started pre-school! She is going to a church preschool 2 days a week and then stays for lunch bunch. She is having a great time and learning so much. She loves her teachers and her new friends in her class.

She is loving all the new songs they are singing in class. She sings "Jesus Loves Me" every night before bed.

They have started working on spelling their names and writing them. She loves coming home from school and setting up her class room with her babies and she pretends she is Mrs Canada and she teaches her baby dolls to write their names and works on the ABC's and numbers.

She reminds me a lot of myself when I was little and I love it.

Next week she gets to take Ryan to school for Dad's night/ Halloween party. They were costumes and carve pumpkins and the kids all sing the songs they have been working on. Not gonna lie, I am a little jealous that he gets to go before me but I told him to record to entire thing. Let's see if he listens!

We have finished up with soccer and gymnastics for now. Soccer was too frustrating for me! She just wants to play soccer games and score goals and doesn't want to do drills or work on dribbling ect. We will start back up in a few months and hopefully she will be old enough to play games at that point. We stopped with gymnastics because she just wasn't enjoying it anymore. It was the same thing over and over, every week since March. She was bored and so was I. So now we are on to dance. Oh boy! She is in a ballet class but they do other forms of dance styles too. It's all to Disney and kids songs and she loves it. I think we are going to do a Broadway class next session too which is singing and dancing. She will be the next Britney Spears (minus the meltdown of 2007!)

BAYLOR 5 months!

Length - 26" +

Head Circumference - ?

Clothing Size -  6 months. Size 2 diapers.

Sleeping - Ugh. Sleep. Same nap schedule during the day. 2 short morning naps and then an long afternoon nap. He struggles to stay up past 7-730pm and still wakes twice at night to eat because he is not eating enough during the day/ spitting it all up. He wakes up to start the day most of the time around 630. He and Ryan get up together and get ready for work then Baylor goes back to sleep for his first nap by 8. Raegan wakes up around 8-830 most mornings.

Teeth - nadda. So much drool and chewing but no signs of teeth.

Eating - 25 oz of expressed milk a day. No solids yet. Gets about 2-3oz of apple juice/water at dinner for constipation.

Movement - starting to get up on all 4 and rocking back and forth. Army crawls and scoots all over the place. Rolls all over the place.

Milestones - Tummy sleeper, getting on all 4's and rocking, grabbing and shaking toys, belly laughing

Favorite toys/activities - Playing with his sister, baby Sophie the giraffe

Dislikes - sleeping and cuddling :(

What we love - How chill and laid back he is for the most part. How much he adores his sister.

What we don't love - acid reflux and constipation. Oh and not sleeping through the night!

What we're looking forward to- Starting solids, crawling, sleeping through the night every night!

We stopped giving B his Prevacid. It only works maybe 10 days out of the month, cost $54 a month and gives him major constipation and so Ryan and I decided it just wasn't worth it. He has been off it for almost a week now and surprisingly he is doing ok. He isn't spitting up nearly as much as I thought he would be I have been watching what I eat and staying away from lots of dairy. I still will put cheese on a salad or make a recipe with cream cheese or sour cream but I'm not eating ice cream, yogurt ect.

I finally feel like he is gaining a little weight. I had a weight check for tomorrow but I don't think we will go. We will just wait until his 6 months appt and see how much he weighs. I feel like he has already grown at least an inch in the past month. He will be too long for his infant car seat in just a couple of months.

Baylor man... 4 months old!

BAYLOR RYAN... 4 MONTHS OLD!

Weight - 12 lbs 13oz dropped to 20th percentile.

Length - 26" So Tall! 90th percentile.

Head Circumference - not sure but it was 40th percentile.

Clothing Size - 3-6 months. Pants and sleepers are 6 months because he is so long. 3 month onesies still fit. Size 2 Pampers Swaddler sensitive diapers.

Sleeping - He is still on a very predictable schedule. Bedtime around 7-8pm. Sleeps until 4am, eats, and goes back to sleep until 7:30, eats and then usually stays awake for a little while until falling back asleep around 9-930. He takes 2-3 short 30-45 min naps in the morning and then a long afternoon nap from about 2-5.  He is sleeping through the night more. But we have to get up at least once to give him his binky and then he falls right back asleep.

Teeth - nadda. So much drool and chewing but no signs of teeth.

Eating - Prevacid was working great. Sleeping through the night, no crying, no spit up. He was like a whole new baby. But unfortunately it was a compound and the compound breaks down after about 15 days and starts to lose its effect. Back to spitting up until we can get a new refill

Movement - Rolls all over the place. Loves tummy time.

Milestones - Sitting up, starting to pull his knees under him to try and get on all 4. Sleeps on his tummy.

Favorite toys/activities - Anything he can chew on. "Playing with his sister!"

Dislikes - Spitting up, going days and days without pooping

What we love - What a good, easy, chill baby he is. How much his sister adores him.

What we don't love - Acid Reflux. Not consistently sleeping through the night.

What we're looking forward to- Sleeping through the night and growing out of his acid reflux.

4 MONTH CHECK UP-

Dr. Freeman is concerned with B not gaining very much weight in the last 2 months and dropping quite a bit on the growth chart. There are a couple factors that we are looking at. 1. It could be his acid reflux and spitting up along with not eating more than 2-3 oz every 3ish hours during the day. Or 2) it could be that he is developmentally like a 6-9 month old and burning a lot more calories than most 4 month olds. So he is having his weight gain drop off now instead of at 9 months. I think it is more related to #1.

Other than his weight and acid reflux he is doing so great. Dr. Freeman thinks he will be like his sister and crawling at 6m and walking at 9m if not sooner.

We are holding off on starting solids due to his lack of weight gain which is kind of a double edge sword. Solids will help with the AR but we need him to get his calories from milk and not rice cereal. At 6 months we will re-evaluate our plan.

B had 3 shots and 1 oral vaccine. He took them like a champ. He hardly cried at all and wasn't fussy or feverish at all.

Raegan's third birthday!

I can not believe my baby girl is 3 years old already. Time really does fly by the older you get. It just doesn't seem possible that she is already 3. We had a Hello Kitty themed birthday party at the bowling alley. We went the easy route this year by having it there with pizza and a store bought cake (gasp!) She had a really good time with her friends and family.

I am so proud of the little girl that she has become. Looking back at pictures from just last year I can not believe how fast she has grown up. She changed from a baby, to a toddler and is now a little girl. And I have to admit she has been so easy so far. She was such a good and easy baby and has always been a great, great sleeper. Even though she doesn't nap anymore she sleeps 12-13 hours at night. Most days I would rather her go to bed at 7:30pm than take a nap in the afternoon and be up until 10pm. It's so nice that both kids go to bed around 7:30 and then Ryan and I have a couple of hours to watch our shows and relax before we go to bed. We did not experience the terrible two's with Raegan and so far no terrible three's! I just must be such a great mom, pat on the back! HA! Kidding, maybe?! I honestly think it is because she is so great at communicating that we have never had the frustration over not knowing what each other want. I hope her brother is just like her!

I still have not cut her hair and have no plans to anytime soon. I will cry. Her hair is still super curly and very blond from the summer sun. Every, I mean everyone says how much she looks like Ryan.

Raegan has been in gymnastics for the past six months, is doing soccer again and just started preschool 2 days a week with lunch bunch. She loves to dance, so I think we are going to take a break from gymnastics and start a dance class. She loves ballet (thank you Angelina Ballerina) so we might try that. Or we might do the mix tap/ballet class. She does not like to warm up at gymnastics or soccer and says she just wants to score goals! That's my girl!

At her 3 year check up she was 37 3/4" and 34 pounds! I don't know where that weight gain is coming from because she does not eat. She eats really good about once every 3 days. She doesn't like breakfast or to eat right when she wakes up. She needs about 2 hours before she wants to eat. Which doesn't really work out for school days. She likes pancakes, muffins and cinnamon rolls. Lunch too is a struggle she will eat a cheese quasadilla, grilled cheese, mac n cheese, hot dog or spaghetti. She will not eat a pb&j or a ham and cheese sandwich. Not a fan of chicken nuggets or hamburgers. Dinner she sometimes will eat what we are having. Not a fan of veggies besides carrots and corn. Not a fan of potatoes of any kind. Loves fruit and loves to dip everything in ranch dressing. Lemonade and chocolate milk are her favorite drinks.

She is a great big sister to her brother and he ADORES her. Sometimes when he is crying only Raegan can make him stop and he is all smiles for her all the time! Sometimes I wish we would have had our kids closer in age so that she could have a friend but I know she is at the right age for a little brother and is such a big help. She loves to play mommy and in no time at all the will be destroying the house together!

Michigan trip and new car!

Back in July, yes I know it is September now, we went to Pentwater, Michigan. I had never been to Lake Michigan and Ryan hadn't been since he was around Raegan's age and it was a very traumatizing trip for him! He about drowned in the Lake and there are pictures to prove it! Poor kid! We stopped in South Bend on the way up to spend time with Ryan's brother and his family. They just bought a big house on a little lake/big pond. The kids had a great time swimming, fishing and playing together. Sunday morning we got up and drove the rest of the way up to Pentwater.

Lake Michigan is beautiful. Amazing. It is like being in North Carolina or Florida but without the salt water which is great for the kids! Raegan had so much fun with her cousins. Fun was had by all, great company, great food, great weather! The beach was just across the street from the house, but the house is in the woods. It's the best of both worlds up there. One of the highlights was feeding the deer after dinner! Raegan loved it! A big thanks to my dad and Becky for letting us come up for the week! Can't wait to do it again.

On the way home from Michigan we went to Fort Wayne. Ryan and I went on our first date since March and even though we were only gone for about 2 hours it was nice to get away.

Raegan had what looked like two little bites on her bum the day before we left Michigan. I figured it was a little irritation from the sand in her suit and it would go away. By the time we got to Fort Wayne it had spread all over her bum and started going down her legs. The spots looked like little pimples and she said they hurt, didn't itch. Dr. Google was no help but what is helpful is having a best friend as a pediatrician. Unfortunately, she lives in Louisville so I had to send her a picture of it but she knew right away what it was! Yay! Monday morning rolled around and I got her in to see her pediatrician who confirmed Dr. Lindsay's diagnoses of Foliculitis and she had to do a round of antibiotics and was all better!

After we got home from Michigan, Ryan was over my Jeep Commander. The A/C had to be recharged and it just felt like it was 2 seconds away from something major mechanically happening. Ryan wasn't really comfortable with the kids and I driving it anymore and he felt like we needed to start looking at a new car for me. It was a pain to get the kids in and out of it and the ride wasn't all that comfortable, not to mention it was a gas hog! I really wanted a GMC Yukon but those are a little more than I was wanting to spend on a new car. Hopefully in a few years one will be mine though! Instead we went with the GMC Acadia. We knew we wanted a tri coat diamond white one so we looked all over central Indiana at the dealerships and thankfully the best deal with just a few minutes from our house. After test driving 2 white ones they had on the lot with cashmere interior and 2nd row bucket seats we picked the one with the dual sunroof's intead of the dvd player. We have portable headrest dvd players we could use for roadtrips and I really wanted a sun roof. My jeep didn't have one and I really wished it did. The kids also have a sky light over there seat! We traded my Jeep in and bought the Acadia. We all love it and are so happy with it!

Baylor 2 months!

BAYLOR RYAN... 2 MONTHS OLD!

Weight - 11 lbs 14oz

Length - 23 3/4"

Head Circumference - not sure off the top of my head... will have to look later

Clothing Size - Pretty much all 0-3m. Some newborn still fit. Size 1 diapers

Teeth - nadda

Eating - I have started to exclusively pump instead of nurse due to his acid reflux. I have an over supply and over active letdown and it caused him to choke, gag, spit up and  a lot of discomfort. Once we introduced the bottle at 6 weeks before the DMB concert I noticed he did a lot better. I continued to nurse at night but he recently has been refusing that so we do bottles 24/7. He eats  3 1/2 -4 oz about every 3 hours.

Movement - He has rolled belly to back (on accident) a couple of times. Lots of kicking. Not a fan of tummy time because he just spits up.

Milestones - He can hold his head up very well, we no longer swaddle at night because he always breaks out of it, lots of coos and gurgles, smiles a lot (responsively), cries when his sister scares him, tracks movement.

Favorite toys/activities - sleep, eat, poop, repeat.

Dislikes - Being hungry, spitting up

What we love - What a good, easy, chill baby he is. How much his sister adores him.

What we don't love - Acid Reflux

What we're looking forward to- More consistently sleeping through the night and growing out of his acid reflux.

Ryan's 30th Birthday!

Ryan turned 30 on July 3. This spring I heard about the Indy Brew Bus. I thought it would be a great idea for him and his friends to do. So I emailed a couple of them and scheduled a night out for him. It was on the Friday after the 4th, I went down to the lake with the kids and he went with his friends after work. The bus takes you to 3-4 downtown breweries for samplings and then you can take a growler on the bus with you. It ended up being a lot of drinking. Needless to say since I wasn't home he stayed out until 3am and ended up getting a hotel room to crash at. Thankfully, by the time I got home from the lake he was no longer hungover.

Raegan made him a birthday cake and she was so excited and proud of it.

I can't believe he is 30! He makes me feel so young!

June recap...

Let me think back to the month of June for a minute and recap what all went on with our family of 4.  Ryan played a lot of golf. He got to go golfing for fathers day and for the BSU football golf outing. I did not get to golf at all. :( For fathers day Ryan got a new iPhone. Good thing I waited until the last minute to figure out what to get him because he dropped his iPhone and shattered it so he got a new one.

At the end of June one of Ryan's friends from high school got married in Sea Island, Georgia. At the last minute we decided he could go to the wedding. Kids weren't invited so I stayed home on my own for 3 days/nights. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. Raegan was better behaved than I ever could have dreamed. She didn't go to timeout once and was so sweet and helpful. She got to sleep in bed with me at night too so we got lots of good cuddles while daddy was gone.

Raegan started swim lessons at our neighborhood pool. It has really paid off for her. She is doing so well in the water. She is still taking gymnastics classes too and really enjoying them.

I went to the Dave Matthews concert at Deer Creek with two of my best friends from BSU. We had a great time at the concert and camping. I had to pump and dump in the tent which was a new experience but it was worth it. As always, Dave did not disappoint. It was one of his best shows in a long time. But oh how times have changed. We were back at my house by 630am. We then went to Fort Wayne that day for my mother in laws retirement/66th birthday surprise party that we planned for her.

That was our month of June in a nutshell.

Baylor's baptism

Only 2 months late! Baylor was baptized at our church on Sunday, June 10. We had to do it when B was still little so that he would fit in our family heirloom Christening gown. The gown is Baylor's great great great grandfathers. It is probably around 140 years old. I wore it, my mom wore it, my grandma wore it, Raegan wore it, my sister wore it, Mady wore it and the list goes on. My grandma says that babies need to be less than 10 lbs to fit into it. Raegan was baptized when she was 6 weeks old and B at 4 weeks.  He did great and slept the whole time. Pastor McKenney even let Raegan help. We had a lot of family come and then we had a luncheon at our house afterwards.

MDO

Raegan finished up her Mother's Day Out program, aka "school", a few days after Baylor was born. We took a picture by her school sign on the first day and the last day. I can't get over how much she has changed and grown up this year. On her report card her teachers said they enjoyed watching her grow from a toddler to a little girl this year. Man, they weren't kidding.

Speaking of her report card, her first one ever, she got "A's" on everything but one thing. She doesn't like to sit quietly during circle time. Which I had noticed when I would pick her up, most of the kids were sitting waiting for their parents while my little princess was standing at the door. They wrote a very nice note about how great she is and that she plays well with everyone.

Meet the teachers day- August 2011

Getting ready to go to school for the first day! She was so little!

First day of MDO! Aug 2011

Last day of MDO- May 2012

She grew up so much this year. And as much as I love the little girl she is becoming it makes me so sad to look back at this. Some days I just want to go back to when she was little and squeeze her again.

She loves school and misses her friends this summer. I miss it too! We are both looking forward to August when she will go back 2 days a week for Junior Preschool! Ahhhh my baby is starting preschool! :'(
