Sleeping Success!

Raegan has always been a great sleeper from day 1. Mommy and Daddy are also great sleepers, me especially, because I am still taking Unisom for my morning sickness. Raegan goes to bed at 7:30pm and gets up between 8-830am, and she does not nap anymore. The problem was that she would get up in the middle of the night and come into our bed at some point, most nights we didn't know when because she wouldn't wake us up. She was quiet as a mouse. Some nights she would wake Ryan up because she needed a drink or to go potty. We knew we had to break her of this before brother comes and that we had to get her to stay in her bed all night. I NEVER dreamed it would be so easy with a little bribe!

Last Thursday, I went to the Dollar Tree store and bought her a bunch of little toys all for $1. We told her before she went to bed that she needs to stay in her bed all night and not come into mommy and daddy's bed and she will get a present. She went to bed at 7:30 but woke up at 6:45am. She called for Ryan and he went in there. She asked if she could have her present since she slept in her bed all night. Ugh. It was 6:45am. My immediate thought was that now I am going to have to get her an OK to wake clock that would let her know at 8am that it was ok to wake up. But she did sleep in her bed all night so she got her presents of a soccer ball, fairy wings, and Minnie Mouse chapstick.

Friday night she went to bed at 7pm since she woke up early and did not nap. She did get up to go potty in the middle of the night but did go back bed on her own. She slept til 830am and got her presents of new shoes (not from the dollar store but she needed new ones) and headbands. Saturday night she went to bed at 7:30pm and slept all night in her own bed and woke up around 8:30 but stayed in her bed and played until I went in and got her at 9am! She got her presents of 2 Elmo books and a Mickey Mouse chalkboard.

Sunday night was Super Bowl Sunday and we went to a friends house down the street. So Raegan got to stay up until almost 8:30pm. She woke up at 2am asking for a drink, Ryan told her she needed to lay back down and he would bring her one. This use to always fail. She would throw a fit and want to go with him. Last night she laid back down and waited for her drink. He brought it to her and then left the room. Use to always be a fail too. Now it worked and was a total success. He didn't even have to remind her that she would get presents. She went right back to sleep. At 6am she woke up, cried for me for 2 seconds and then went back to sleep until 8:30am. She got a couple new coloring books with stickers and crayons as well as a Minnie Mouse water color painting kit.

We have enough $1 gifts to get us through this week, Friday night we will tell her that her present that night is to go to Grandma Hahaj's house and playing with Ava Saturday. And then hopefully we wont have to buy her any more gifts! But as Ryan said this morning, for $7 a week its worth it!

We have struggled with the big girl bed since she moved into over the summer. Moving into the new house made it even worse. I think in the two months that we lived here she slept through the night in her own bed maybe two or three times. Hopefully this makes the transition to baby brothers arrival this spring much easier since he will be in our room for the first couple of weeks.
