Big Girl Bed!

Seriously? When did my baby grow up? She is amazing me everyday at the stuff she can do now. She likes to help make her own breakfast. When we go downstairs to eat, she grabs a chair and pulls it up to the island and climbs up in it and helps me cook. Her favorite thing to eat for breakfast is blueberry pancakes, or boo boo cakes/ booberry cakes. She will grab the box of bisquick, poor it in the bowl, pour the milk that I have measured out in and then helps crack the egg. And then she stirs, stirs, stirs, and stirs. This part takes forever. Sometimes she lets me help but other times she has to do it herself. She then moves her chair over by the stove. She lets me pour the batter and flip the pancakes but she adds the blueberries. Today she ate more than she added but she had fun!

She brushes her own teeth, takes a drink of water when shes done. She goes potty on the big girl potty, wipes and flushes, all on her own. Seriously? She isn't even 18 months old yet. Oh, and lately she likes to wash her hair in the bathtub too!

But the biggest thing is she is sleeping in her big girl bed now! She loves hanging out in the guest room bed and reading books. She will spend between 1-3 hours a day in there reading. She has started trying to climb in her crib. I think so she can read in there. Once I help her in she just plays and hangs out for the longest time. When shes done she tries to climb out and was pretty darn close to it. So we decided to take the crib rail off and let her sleep in her big girl bed. Night 1 (Tuesday, January 18) couldn't have gone more perfect. Ryan put her to bed at 7:30 while I was at Zumba. After reading Goodnight Moon and rocking and singing he laid her in bed and she didn't make a peep. She started whining around 11:30 I went in and laid her back down and then again at 4am. But she stayed in bed and wasn't awake for more than 2 minutes. She woke up Wednesday at 7:15am calling for daddy, but happy as can be! Unfortunately nap #1 on Wednesday didn't go as well. Naptime is at 1pm after lunch. Usually she lays down and I don't hear from her for 2-3 hours. She wouldn't stay in bed and would just stand at the door and scream. So naptime was a fail until about 3:45. She climbed up on the couch, put her head down on the pillow and passed out. I picked her up and put her to bed. She only slept for about 45 minutes but thats ok since it was so late.

Wednesday night bedtime was just as perfect as the night before! But I guess at 1:30am my mommy instinct kicked in. I never heard her get out of bed, she didn't cry or whine. But I sat up in bed and saw her walking in our room. She ran over to the bed, I picked her up and then she slept with us until 7:45!

Today's nap was a struggle at first, but she just didn't seem tired. Finally got her to stay in her bed and sleep around 2:30. It's 4:15 and she's still sleeping!

I bought her new bedding with flowers and ladybugs (it was on clearance at target for $12!) It is crib bedding, but thats ok for the price. I was wanting just a pink and or brown comforter but the ones I liked including a ladybug one was $100+. She likes having the bumper on. I think she feels safer, like its more closed in and private. I am making new ladybug wall art too, and ordering ladybug window valances. My baby isn't so much a baby anymore! Makes me so sad! But I love watching her grow up! She is so amazing, not to mention so cute! I want a million of her!

Ladybug pictures I made. Just need to buy frames

Naptime #1 (notice the cute new crib bedding set!)
She loves to sit in bed and read

  1. She is such a big girl and so helpful!! I love the bedding and wall art, SO CUTE! I plan to keep Madi confined to her crib for a while more, she tends to climb EVERYTHING so I don't want her to roam free at night just yet :)
