Ryan and I randomly decided one Friday night in the middle of February we wanted to go on a quick trip to Disney before baby boy gets here. We wanted to do something special for R as our last hooray as a family of 3. We knew that once baby boy gets here we wouldn't be going to Disney anytime soon. We looked at our calendar and made reservations for 2 weeks later. We left on Thursday after my 28 week appointment was over and headed for sunny, warm Florida. We drove through the night in a rental car and got to Disney at 8am. Thankfully the hotel let us check in early and didn't even charge us for the extra time. Ryan headed to bed since he drove the hard part of the night from about 10pm-4am. I got the first shift and the last shift.
We stayed at Disney's Pop Century Resort. We decided even though it was a value hotel it would be fun for R because of all tacky decorations. I would not stay there if it were just Ryan and I, or if I had older kids. But it worked out great for us this trip. Our first choice was the Caribbean Beach Resort but they were booked. After we got all checked into our room Ryan went straight to sleep and Raegan and I headed for the pool. Even though I was running on about 3 hours of sleep I was not going to pass up on an 88 and sunny day to sleep inside. We were in the 60's decade of the hotel and the kids pool was great. When we first got out there we were the only ones there. Raegan was so excited to swim. We stayed down there until noon when we went and woke Ryan up for lunch. My plan before we left Indy was to get Chicken Salad and croissants to take with us so we would have food in the car and for when we got to Disney. I totally forgot the part and Ryan didn't remind me until it was too late. It would have been nice to have more food with us and not just snacks but we sucked it up and went to the food court of the hotel and paid $25 for lunch, for just Ryan and I. He had a sandwich and I had chicken nuggets. Oh Disney! After lunch we talked Ryan into going to the pool. We went back to the pool for a couple of hours. At about 3pm we went back to the room in hopes that Raegan would take a nap. Which of course she did not. So we showered and got ready then hopped on a bus to Downtown Disney for dinner. Raegan was super excited to ride a bus. The bus was hot and crowded and not fun.
Luckily it was a short bus ride and we got to DTD around 5. Our plan was to head straight to dinner somewhere so we wouldn't have to wait. But after lots of pictures, a carousel ride and a train ride ride we finally got to T-Rex which is where Raegan wanted to eat dinner. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait and got a table right away in the "ice glacier." We had never been to T-Rex but it is just like Rainforest Cafe. Our dinner was great and only $30 for both of us and Raegan had fun! If you can't tell, Raegan doesn't eat much so we never order her anything. She just eats a few bites off of our plates.
After dinner we went to Ghirardelli Soda Fountain for dessert, their famous and delicious hot fudge sundae! YUM! Once we gobbled that down we headed back to the buses so we could go to bed early and get some sleep. We got back to the hotel about 730 which is R's bedtime. I think we were all asleep by 8.
Saturday morning the alarm went off at 6:45am. Yawn. I jumped out of bed though, surprisingly, and got ready. I was so excited to go to the Magic Kingdom. At 7 I woke Ryan up and then we woke Raegan up shortly after. But of course before we went to the bus we had to stop and get Ryan his coffee. We got on the bus and arrived at MK right at 8 as they were opening.
Our first stop was to get a picture infront of the sign. After we entered the park I heard a worker talking about how Pinocchio didn't have a line. I looked over and there was Pinocchio standing there waiting for people to come see him. Raegan loves the book Pinocchio and how he "becomes a real boy!" Even though Pinocchio isn't very big Raegan was shy and wanted nothing to do with him. But of course, as soon as we got our picture and walked away she was all about him and over the moon in excitement over meeting Pinocchio and that he was a real boy.
As we continued to walk into the park we saw a line for Pluto and Daisy. We got in Pluto's line and I looked over my shoulder and saw in the theater was the princess' and Mickey with no wait. So we jumped out of Pluto's line and went to see the Princess'. We got to meet Princess Aurora, also known as Sleeping Beauty, Belle and Cinderella. She had no clue who Aurora was, we have never watched Sleeping Beauty. But she was so excited for Belle and Cinderella even though she was very shy. She told Belle that they were twins she had the same dress. I brought her dress to take so she could wear it but mom fail, I left it in the car at the hotel. We then went to see Mickey. Minnie was busy at a character breakfast but Mickey was there to meet. She wasn't really a fan of him. After that we went and got back in line for Pluto and Daisy. She was terrified of Daisy. She wanted nothing to do with him. Ryan was holding her and she was literally crawling on his shoulder to try and get further away. So Pluto was a total fail. But Daisy Duck was a huge hit. She was so excited and actually smiled and talked to Daisy! Winner! Some of my favorite pictures are of her (us) with Daisy.
One hour into MK and we got to meet all those characters. I honestly did not expect to meet any of them. I thought the lines would be crazy long and they would be hard to find. Raegan was super excited to see Cinderella's castle. That's really all she wanted to do. She didn't like when we went somewhere and she couldn't see the castle.
We then rode on Peter Pan's flight, she hated it. Too dark. And went on It's a small world. She liked riding in a boat but I think was bored with the rest. We went to Mickey's Philharmagic which was in 3D and was a big hit for all of us. She actually kept the glasses on and was reaching out for some of the objects and laughing and really enjoying it. It was nice that we were still there early enough that there were no lines. She rode on the giant carrousel and loved riding a horse! Ahhh to be a kid again! We got a fast pass for Winnie the Pooh which had a 30 minute wait and then went to ride on Aladdin's magic carpet. I have to say that it was by far her favorite part. Ryan got to ride with her, I don't do well on anything that spins around in circles. She got to control when the carpet went up and down and loved it. We then got in line to see Ariel which was probably the longest we had to wait which was about 20 minutes. We were the last family that got to see her before she had to go to a character lunch. She was standing next to a bridge and creek and Raegan kept asking to go see Ariel. She thought Ariel would be down in the water. Prince Eric was with Ariel too. After being shy around Ariel and Eric we went back to Pooh's ride. Pooh's ride gets dark at some points too which she was not a fan of. The Pooh fast pass comes with a Philharmagic fast pass too but she said she didn't want to watch it again. So we continued to walk around and see what else there was without a crazy long wait. The park was getting busy by this point. We still had some time to kill because our lunch reservation wasn't until 1:30.
We went to the Monster Inc comedy show. While we were waiting for it she started having a meltdown because we told her it was called Monsters Inc. And she was scared of the monsters and wanted to leave. We bribed her with fruit snacks and went inside. We got an isle middle row seat. The show was funny and they have a lot of audience interaction. The monster on the screen who was telling his comedy piece then said something about a two headed monster and a bright light turned onto Ryan and Raegan who was sitting in his lap. They appeared on the big screen of the theatre as a two headed monster. They were asked their names and where they were from. The monster inc monster then started making jokes about Indiana. It was really funny and Raegan loved being on the big screen tv! We did the people mover which isn't really a ride but it is. And Raegan saw the speedway and wanted to ride in a race car. We were trying to avoid that because it had a long line and no fast pass. We told her we would go after lunch, which we never did. I know she would have loved to drive but I did not want to wait in line for 30-40 minutes for it. We watched some of the Dreams show and then went to lunch.
We had reservations for lunch at The Crystal Palace to dine with Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore. She loved it and the food was actually really good for a buffet style. All of the characters came around to the table and she got her picture taken with them. By then end she was able to have her picture taken by herself and wasn't clinging onto one of us. After lunch the park was crowded and people were lining up for the parade so we decided to leave and head back to the hotel in hopes for a nap. Of course Raegan did not want to nap. She wanted to go to the pool. We went to the pool for a little while but the windy was pretty chilly. It was about 70 and partly sunny but the wind was very cold. So we left the pool and just went back to the room. We ate so much at lunch that we didn't need anything for dinner and around 7 headed back to MK.
Raegan fell asleep on the bus and then woke back up after we got to the park. She stayed awake long enough to watch some of the Dreams show infront of the Castle but then fell back asleep in Ryan's arms. It actually worked out perfect because we had great seats in front of the castle and she was asleep so we just stayed there on the bench for the Electrical Parade and fireworks. We sat there for about an hour or so before the parade started. She slept through the parade and most of the fireworks. She poked her head up once or twice during the fireworks to see what was going on but she was just so tired. The fireworks and light show on the castle were great. It has changed a lot since I was there last. Raegan stayed asleep on the bus on the way back to the hotel and then of course woke up once we got there. Luckily she fell back asleep at the hotel. We all slept great that night.
Our ridiculous neighbors kept slamming their door and running around at about 8am which woke all of us up and we weren't too happy about it. We were hoping for a little more sleep before the long 14 hour drive home. We got up and went to breakfast at the food court. Raegan and I got Mickey waffles and of course she didn't eat more than two bites. We went back to the room, showered, packed up and said goodbye to Disney.
It was Ryan's first time at Disney too and he had a great time. Of course we weren't there for long and didn't get to ride any adult rides but he had a great time. We are excited to go back in a few years for a longer time and when I am not pregnant to really enjoy all the parks and rides!
